Interview with a star - Adina

Today we present you interview with our team member Adina (daisiescrochet).

Hello! My name is Adina and I live in Virginia, USA.

I spent my childhood in a beautiful small town on the coast of the Black sea in Russia. Our house was surrounded by gardens with flowers and fruit trees and forests. For me as a child there was nothing better than to quietly sit in a cozy corner of our garden and work on a craft project.

I was interested in anything handmade, anything I could make myself. I got introduced to knitting at age 5 by my mother, and later I learned to crochet using crocheting magazines from the school library. I think that my love for everything natural and organic took its root there, in my childhood. This has become a great influence on my life. My other biggest passion has always been reading.

Now I am 34 years old and happily married. I have 4 sons and a baby daughter. My little princess inspired me to open my store. I sell various knit and crocheted baby items mostly made from organic yarn.

I strive to create unique and unusual items made from organic materials for my children and I would love to share them with you through my store. In my store you will find photo props and various hats and beanies for babies, toddlers and older kids. My store also carries some Bath and Beauty items. I am now working on patterns for my items. I think many mothers and grandmothers will gladly use my tutorials to make something for their little ones.

Every baby hat and even the smallest flower are saturated with my love for children. I am very happy to see happy children and their mothers satisfied with their purchases. I am very thankful to all my customers who leave comments about my work and especially to those who send me photos of their kids wearing my items. This is the best prize and such an inspiration for me.

I would love it if you visited my store Daisiecrochet
.
You can also follow me on Facebook where I post all my new items and promotions.

Best wishes, Adina

The End of the School Year

The school year is coming to the end. It’s been another year in the classrooms; another year of teaching and enlightening children; another year of stress and hard work. Someone said that a good teacher is like a candle - it consumes itself to light the way for others.

Teachers do not see the results of their work right away but in the long run they affect your life way beyond the school walls. This time of a year is a good time to thank teachers for all the hard work they do. You can go beyond the conventional apple which is traditionally given to teachers in the United States, Denmark, and Sweden. The Russian Artists Etsy team offers many great gift ideas.

For some students these are their last days at school. Even though education continues throughout your entire life the moment of graduation is very special. It’s one of the first big accomplishments in your life. It’s the time of new opportunities. If you are a proud parent of a graduate, check out the gifts that the Russian Artists Etsy team prepared for you. We have some great gift ideas for both boys and girls.

Interview with a Star - Sasha and Veronika (Herbolution)

Today, at this beautiful Earth Day we are appreciating all the gifts Nature brought to us and we are happy to introduce you to our teammates who cares so much about environment that they made it their lifestyle. Please meet Sasha and Veronica at Herbolution!

Please tell us a bit about yourself
We are Sasha and Veronika, a couple of Ukrainian origin – owners of Herbolution that is located in Tennessee. From name of our shop you could guess that our products are made from herbs and natural ingredients :) We do our best to provide the purest and most beneficial power of herbs to our customers through our skin care, aromatherapy and household accessories. We are proud to make all products from scratch and input a lot of love and care in every item, even tiny samples :) And we care about environment as much as about our customers. All our products are made with conscious attitude to Earth and care about condition of our soils. Our products are made of 100% natural ingredients and organic or wildcrafted when possible. All formulas are carefully created to experience full potential of Nature's power of herbs and our packaging is designed to give pleasure of feeling proud to support eco-conscious business.

What brought you to this kind of business?

Love of herbs and Nature was seeded in our hearts from early childhood and was growing and maturing ever since. The desire to express our creativity through body care products and everyday household items was just a matter of time. So we couldn't hold that passion inside and Herbolution is what burst out from that need :)

Why did you start selling at ETSY?
Etsy is all about passionate creation and self-expression - exact place for our needs :) We started actively selling on Etsy about year and a half ago and immediately fit in to handmade community. We like the demand for customizations and individual approach to every product and Etsy all about that :) Etsy customers value our hand made products and are generous on descriptive and detailed feedbacks full of sweet words and happy experiences.

What tools do you use to promote your work?
Our passion and sincere efforts do most of the promotion for us, thus we have many return customers, but we also use Facebook, Twitter, Blogspot, our website and Etsy's promotional tools like treasuries, showcases, teams, etc, as well as arrange giveaways, promotions, reviews and samples.

Where else can we find your products other than ETSY?
We also sell products on our website at www.herbolution.com, ArtFire, eCrater and few other marketplaces.

Do you make сustom items?
We love customizations! This emphasizes our personal approach and gives us advantage as handmade company over mass produced corporations. Personal attention is the key in our business.

Where do you get your Inspiration from?
Our love of Herbs, sincere care for Planet, our love to each other and desire to create things that both Earth and people can really benefit from and enjoy – are our inspirations and never-ending sources of ideas. Everyday life shows us needs and wants of different people and we are challenged to provide eco-friendly and herbal solutions to ones :)

What are your goals for your shop?

We are currently 88% plastic free and our goal is to become 100% free of any kind of plastic. We also plan to introduce some of our products to more retail stores and spas. But the main goal is to shift the thinking of common consumer to value and give priority to Earth-friendly products, and also to restore the trust in amazing powers of herbs.

How did you come up with your shops name?
We LOVE herbs! We wanted the name to reflect both herbal passion in creation of our products and some new, revolutionary solution with herbal products – fresh, 100% natural and eco-friendly ways to engage herbs in our everyday life. That’s how we came up with Herb+solution+revolution= Herbolution.

Do you both create your products or does one do another aspect of the business?
We try to be both fully involved in every step of Herbolution growth whether it's increasing our products assortment or transitioning to renewable energy. But still, Veronika is mostly responsible for formulation, development and testing of products and Sasha is focused on technical part, labels design, vision and eco-friendly solutions implementation.

What would you suggest to new Etsy sellers to promote their shops?
Be confident in what you make, don't cheat and be honest with you customers as with yourself. Give customer service as good as you never received yourself. And remember to treat your customers with generous sales and discounts, like the following one: for celebration of Earth Day we offer 25% OFF EVERY ORDER until Apr 24 (use code "love4earth"). Be sure that you support earth-friendly business while shopping for natural and delightful organic products.

Sasha and Veronika

Blooming garden

My garden is all I can think about now. I caught myself stopping regularly by the nurseries to see if they've received anything new I could add to our garden. I am hoping for peonies and lilacs to arrive but it's too hot for them where I live.

Instead I am getting petunias and roses, even though my garden is full of them. I just can not resist to see the colorful flowers and smell the wonderful fragrance every spring!

So many people are enjoying gardening right now. Some of them are also trying to save the moment by creating the wonderful items by any possible means. Jewelry, felted brooches and scarves, pretty clothing, art photography and paintings, there is so many ways to remember the spring garden at any time of the year!

Then it will stay with you forever.

Organic sugar coffee and cinnamon body scrab

It is always a great idea to pamper your body, especially when you are using organic ingredients and can create some really great product right at your own kitchen. Veronica and Sasha from Herbolution are sharing their organic body scrub recipe with us today.

It is not hard to create such luxurious spa product as body scrub at home as you might think. All you need for the basic recipe is few things that usually can be found in almost any kitchen: oil, sugar or salt and some sort of fragrance, flavor or essential oil. Such scrub will not only diligently exfoliate removing dead skin cells but also will moisturize your skin which is especially good for people with very dry skin. Homemade scrubs are great for people with sensitive skin too as they don't contain any harsh ingredients usually found in commercial products.

Today we will demonstrate how to make Sugar Coffee & Cinnamon body scrub. To make it earth-friendly we recommend to use organic, Fair trade and 100% natural ingredients that are not only better and safe for your skin but also support ethical and chemical-free agriculture businesses.

Why sugar? Sugar contains glycolic acid, a component that keeps skin healthy. It moisturizes, conditions it and protects from the harmful effects of toxins. If you use a brown sugar scrub on a regular basis, it will help to improve your skin's ability to retain its natural moisture balance.

You need:

Oil, ¼ cup (we use organic Apricot Kernel Oil. It is very light, absorbent and moisturizing for your skin. You can substitute it with almond, soybean, sunflower or olive oil of your choice).
Sugar, 1 cup (we use organic Brown Sugar. If you would like more powerful exfoliation you can use sea salt).
Coffee, ½ cup (we use organic Coffee. You can also reuse any leftover from you
r fresh brewed morning cup of coffee too, but since it will contain water it should be used
immediately, within day or two).
Cinnamon, ½ table spoon
Cocoa powder (optional), 1 table spoon (we use pure raw organic cocoa powder but you can add also one of those yummy dry drinking cocoa mixes, like the one from Hershey's).
Cinnamon essential oil, ¼ tea spoon
Vitamin E, 6-8 drops.
Also you will need measuring cups, spoon, spatula or spoon for mixing, bowl and container to transfer the finished product.
Measure and mix all dry ingredients first in a bowl using the spatula or clean hands (to touch and feel the consistency and to add some love to the scrub). Make sure there are no any combs left. Add base oil and essential oil. Mix thoroughly.
That's it. Fast, easy and aromatic as your morning coffee :) Transfer the scrub to your container. Since this recipe is 100% natural and does not contain any chemical preservatives, we strongly recommend to avoid any water contact with the full jar, otherwise the life of the scrub will shorten considerably. You don't want it to happen, right? :) So the best way to avoid this is - before going to shower/bath scoop out a portion that will be used right away, this way the full jar will stay fresh and safe.

Give your skin a good pamper each time you bathe or shower. It will look amazingly soft, supple and glowing!

Feel free to surf Herbolution Etsy store for different body polishes as ideas and inspiration or get one for yourself today!

Mother’s day is coming, and it is coming very soon.

This is holiday of all mothers, grandmothers, and little girls as future moms.

It is become a tradition to give something special, some exclusive gifts to moms to assure them in our love. Embroidered souvenirs could be great gifts, where every handmade stitch tells about sincere love to moms.

We have a few stores in our team which offer embroidered gifts for moms.

For example- adorable shop Skrynka.
The owner of the shop Natasha offers cross stitch embroidered pendants.
Natasha is concentrating exclusively on Ukrainian’s national heritage, though; any mother would be delighted to get one of Natasha’s great items.

Store Woolsolution is offering more essential gifts.
Owner of the shop Lyudmila accomplished embroidery of significant level – abstract man’s head as image from the painting of renowned artist Paul Klee.

This embroidery piece would be unquestionable great benefit for decoration of any living room, it will bring bright accent to any contemporary style interior.

Pleasurable store BelleCoccinelle offers very feminine and elegant embroidery.
Items in this shop are made by hand, and also on hand-guided, beginning of the last Century "Singer" machine, which your grand-grand-mothers were using for sawing.
Owner of the store Lana – an embroidery designer, she offers embroidered souvenirs of any taste and style.
For example - delicate lily-of-the-valley:

Or smiley daisies:

These embroidery items made dimensional and looks like they grow right from the hoops.
Mom can decorate the shelf with this embroidery, next to the needlecraft chest, or she can present this beautiful souvenir to her daughter, future mom.

It doesn’t make any sense to buy common gift to your loved one.
Unusual gift is always much more thrilling.
Embroidery made by members of Russian team is unforgettable gift which every mom will keep for a long time.

Interview with a star - Nadezhda (MamaTita)

Meet our fellow teammate Nadezhda who runs MamaTita shop on Etsy. She is creating beautiful hand cut paper cards and decor items perfect for weddings and memorable events. Everything in her shop is hand made, her main tool is an exacto cutting knife and a calligraphy pen. In her free time Nadezhda is enjoying being an actress at the local Theatre Of Improvisation.
https://www.etsy.com/people/MamaTita

- Please tell us a little bit about yourself
I am a very adventurous person - life does not stay at one place - I always need something new in my life. It started from my birth - I was born in the east side of Soviet Union in the city called Hakhodka (near Vladivostok), then we changed our place to Latvia - we had a flight through the whole Soviet Union to the west. Now I live in the west of Russia. But all my life my places were close to sea. I do not why - I even can not swim. 5 months in my life I lived in a wonderful place in Slovakia but it was not easy - to be far away from big water.

- How long have you been creating? How did your journey in art and creativity begin?
I am an artist all my life. Not very good artist, because I did not want to learn about painting, but I am an artist in my heart. What I really like - it is different kinds of decoration. I love smooth, delicate works - like the lace. Love very small details - I can make them all the day.

I had many interests in my life. The newest one is paper cutting. When I started it some months ago, I understood that I would like to make business with paper ideas. This is wonderful material and there are so interesting kinds of paper in the paper-shops now!

https://www.etsy.com/people/MamaTita
Another my passion is calligraphy. I love the way of stylus and ink very much. The beautiful hand writing always has its own story and soul.
https://www.etsy.com/people/MamaTita

- What items in your shop do you most enjoy making and why?
I like to make my butterflies very much. Because I feel myself like butterfly or feather in my life. This is why I want to add feather sign in my future works, too. I know that butterflies are very popular, may be even too much popular. But I think that my paper butterflies have their own life and soul and they are like alive.
https://www.etsy.com/people/MamaTita

- What are your main sources of inspiration?
The people who like my work, who want to have them in their house or event. They inspire me because when they order my works, they trust me. They trust that I will make their area more beautiful. When I make every order, I imagine it in that person's area and imagine his smile when he see it at first.
https://www.etsy.com/people/MamaTita
 - Do you take custom orders?
I love them! I love when my customer brings his own idea to my things. He helps me to do something new and his ideas can be wonderful!
https://www.etsy.com/people/MamaTita
- Where would you like to go with your business?
I would like to earn enough with my business and then I can work everywhere in the Earth where is a good paper shop and good work of the post. It is difficult for me to live more then 2-3 years in one place. I always need to change my area.

- What is the best reaction you have gotten from one of your pieces?
I love reactions from my husband. He is a very good designer and when he likes what I do, it means that it is really good and other people will like it, too.

- Name 3 things you can’t live without?
The sun and colors of nature. My family. The life full of adventures.
