Bright colors of spring and summer

It's mid-spring and all the trees and shrubs are in bloom. These vibrant and intense colors, I'm sure, inspire a lot of artists and craftsmen to create unique and amazing handmade art pieces. All of us, members of Etsy Russian Team, are feeling the same drive. I'm using this opportunity to introduce bright and colorful spring and summer items created by members of our team and inspired by nature.

People have been fascinated by vast oceans and deep seas for thousands of years. Be it deep blue and turquoise waters of the Bahamas

Blue ocean of the Bahamas
or calm grey waters or northern seas, we always dream of owning a piece of it. Here is Sky Blue Necklace by TonyaUtkina

Mysterious deep water creatures or aquarium gold fishes, they are equally amazing when captured on a light and durable summer felted handbag by Galafilc.

Summer felted fish bag by Galafilc Exotic flora and fauna of the equatorial lands offer us a wide variety of shapes, colors and forms to admire

Red and pink Bahama flowersand we transform our ideas and positive energy into unique felted, wire wrapped, crocheted, knitted and beaded items for everyone to own and enjoy. Look at this Spring Flower felted necklace by Beautyland

Flower felted necklace by BeautylandForget about exotic! What about this familiar apple tree next door? It is in full bloom covered with lightly scented white and pink tender flowers. To preserve and remember this beauty we create items to stay with us for years to come like Apple tree blossom brooch by Jezek

Nature inspires us as it inspires our fellow artists and craftsman all over the world. We buy these amazing art pieces, get them as presents, exchange them for something of less value to us. We collect and admire them and it makes our life a bit happier.

Designing with wire & beads

If you ever thought about making jewelery but did not know where to start, think no further, take a class!

I am very lucky to live in the same city with jewelery instructor & my fellow etsian Albina Manning. So I thought about it, called some friends who'd like to learn it too. We picked a day & time for the Girls Night In Party and got together last Saturday night and hired her as an instructor.

I have to say, the class was amazing! We are beginners, and Albina spent a lot of time with each of us, helping to understand the basics better. The result of a 2 hour class was great. I made cute earrings & matching bracelet. My friends left with newly made gorgeous Swarovski crystals earrings they made that night. I also bought a book Albina wrote with other talented artists and I am hoping to make at least a couple of beaded necklaces I found there!

Albina is a professional teacher and jewelry making instructor. She enjoys teaching at the Bead Museum in Glendale, AZ. She also does classes at the Beaderie in Chandler, AZ and at the J.O.G.S Gem & Jewelry Show which is occuring every year in February in Tuscon, AZ. The photos of her beaded tree Bonsai Shakkan has been used by Fire Mountain Gems (Beading & Jewelery Supplies Company) both as a back cover advertisement and inside their catalog. In 2009 Albina won 1st Place, the Gold Medal award with Inca’s Gold Necklace in FMG’s wirework category. She has been published in the Art Bead Circle Magazine, as well as the book Mixed Media Jewelry Techniques.

You can visit Albina's web-site www.around-beads.info and her store www.aroundbeads.etsy.com

Introducing Lightkeeping and Lampwork

Wouldn't it be nice to find out more and see the faces behind the amazing work of Etsy Russian Team members? Now I do not attempt to claim that my creations are half as amazing as the art created by other members, but I would love to humbly set an example of introducing ourselves.

My name is Anastasija (or Anna for short and for easier pronunciation) aka Lightkeeping. I am originally from Lithuania, however, I come from a Russian family and have a very strong Russian identity. And recently I also chose to be an immigrant of love by coming to Ireland. A couple of years ago I was studying arts in Cork and met this guy with hair like a raven, cheecks like blood and body like snow straight from "The Exile of the Sons of Uisliu", one of the most stunning sagas ever written in Irish. So after finishing my studies in literature back at home and quitting my day job in the media, I flew back to Ireland on the love wings of Airlingus.

As long as I can remember myself I was crafting something all the time. It used to be sawing outfits for dolls first, then I moved on to knitting for myself and family members. I was always very disappointed that I cannot draw as visual arts are a passion of mine, I just love visiting galleries and exhibitions as well as taking art history courses and was delighted to discover the media of lampwork as it fully satisfies my hunger for color, texture and form.

Lampworking is a type of glasswork that uses a gas fueled torch to melt rods and tubes of clear and colored glass. Once in a molten state, the glass is formed by blowing and shaping with a variety of tools and hand movements. Lampwork beads can be very colorful and highly detailed and they are an instant mood lifter. I just love working with them: matching them with Czech glass beads, colored jade, pearls, Swarovski and other beads to make bracelets, necklaces and earrings.

My next step will be learning to make my own lampwork beads and I am looking very much forward to being able to afford learning lampworking and getting all the equipment. Meanwhile, I want to show you the work of another member of the Russian team - Nina, who runs an Etsy shop Britanika. She makes gorgeous lampwork beads in her home studio in Israel. All her beads are cleaned and annealed in digitally controlled kiln for added strength and durability. If you love color and unusual form you should definitely visit her shop.
Here are a couple of examples of the lampwork beads that are currently for sale in her shop.

Aquamarine - the stone of March

According to legend it has it’s origin in the treasure chest of the mermaids and has for ages been reputed to be a lucky stone for sailors. That is why it's a very good stone to take on vacations and cruise because it'll be a kind of your talisman. If you need to focus on success, aquamarine will give you strength you need to take responsibility for yourself. The stone will keep you on track, assisting you in maintaining a persistent path towards your goals, and helping in gaining your success.

Aquamarine is the modern March birthstone. It is suggested as a gem to give on 16-th and 19-th anniversaries.

Hello everybody!

Hi there!

Well.. Let me start. It's always difficult to start. There are so many things to write about. And I don't know what should be first. Anyway...

I would like to share our treasuries in this first post. Yeh... our team members make a lot of treasuries. :) We love it... So let me share a couple of them which are most cute in my opinion...

Look at the gorgeous Sunny country treasury by HealthyJewelry ! It gives energy and a piece of sun in this gloomy day. Well at least it's gloomy where I live :)

One more treasury that I really like is The Color Teal by BlueberryCream. Look at this! It's very tender and fresh... like tender spring breeze. :)

I hope you'll enjoy the treasuries as I do. :)
