Winter vacation
Take a break!

Collect sea shells.
Watch wild life.
Dive or snorkel in the coral reef.
Go sailing.
Enjoy the views.
And most importantly enjoy some time off. You deserved it!

My trip to Belgium
Where is your inspiration coming from? Mine is coming from different sources but one of it is my travel impressions.
Last month my husband and I visited two cities in Belgium, Antwerpen and Bruges. I liked both cities very much, they are so wonderful.
I liked the old buildings, delicious chocolate, Christmas atmosphere and a girl's best friend, diamonds.
When we were in Antwerpen my husband and I went to see a movie "In Bruges" after our baby went to sleep in a evening. My husband had seen this movie before but wanted me to see it also. This is an action movie but you can see beautiful Belgian cities too. So later it was nice to see a "In Bridges" poster at the hotel, right next to a reception counter.
I liked the charm of Bruges with it's channels, a wonderful market place, silent side streets and cathedrals.
I was really happy to spend some time taking pictures with my camera.
This trip made me feel recharged and full of energy. I was happy to come back home and use my new ideas in my creations.

Places to see: Caesarea, Israel
There are a lot of historical places in Israel and there is also a lot of information about these places. I invite you into short trip to very special city – Caesarea.
Caesarea, the ancient port city is located mid-way between Tel Aviv and Haifa. In general it takes about 25-35 minutes on high way from Tel-Aviv to get there (if there is no traffic jams).
A little bit of history: The ancient port city was established in the 3rd century B.C.E. as a small Phoenician harbor called Strato’s Tower. In the year 90 B.C.E. the Hasmonean king Alexander Yanai took over the place and by the end of that century, King Herod the Great constructed magnificent city – deep sea harbor. The city got its name in honor of Herod’s Roman patron, Augustus Caesar. Caesarea was serving as one of the most important maritime centers in the eastern Mediterranean during Romans and Crusader periods.
To me, it is the place with atmosphere of old port-city.
I like to visit it, just a couple of hours before the sunset.
The smell of the sea, the fresh wind and the rustle of palm trees create a magnificent scene for the main act – the sunset. The mysterious moment – is so stunning, a little bit sad and completely unpreventable.
But before it – there is a lot of time to enjoy the old streets of the ancient city.
You can enjoy historical excavations, visit local gift shops, enter in to the sea (in season) or just enjoy the breeze from the sea sitting on the bench looking over the horizon.
If you are hungry, there are several restaurants overlooking the sea shore. They serve mostly Mediterranean cosine but there is also a sushi restaurant (OMG, think about it you can eat sushi in the tower built by Crusaders :) ).
There are a lot of places where from you can have amazing sea sight.
On my walk I met a wonderful cat. I called him a royal cat – he was full of dignity and had very self-sufficient look.
And yes, the civilization is just behind the corner – the power station. Many people would have claimed that this closeness of “civilization” ruins the atmosphere of old city but I disagree with them. I think it creates effect of the time machine – depending where you are standing you can see either future or past.
When you plan visiting Israel, I suggest you to add Caesarea to you “places to see” list.

Our trip to Mt.St.Helen.
About three years ago I moved to North West Washington, just some 2 hours north from Seattle. I like to explore areas where I live, and I make lots of trips to Cascade range of mountains.
The Cascades are part of the Pacific Ring of Fire, the ring of volcanoes and associated mountains around the Pacific Ocean. Most volcanoes are sleeping and hopefully are not about to erupt in near future. One such volcano I can see right from my house window - it's Mt.Baker.
But I really wanted to see the volcano which was erupted just recently - in 1980. I am taking about Mt.St.Helens. Finally last summer we took a trip over there. It was unforgettable. Here how the volcano looks now:
We wanted to get to the mountain as close as possible, so instead of going to visitor center which located about 30 miles from volcano, we went on Forest service roads, which lead us to Windy Ridge - an observation area only 4 miles (6.4 km) northeast of the crater, overlooking beautiful Spirit lake:
In the morning of Sunday, May 18, 1980 the eruption was signaled by an earthquake and volcano woke up from 123 years of hibernation... An eruption column rose 80,000 feet (24,400 m) into the atmosphere and deposited ash in 11 U.S. states!
Fifty-seven people and thousands of animals were killed. Hundreds of square miles were reduced to wasteland.
Mount St. Helens was left with a crater on its north side. We climb some stairs to try and see inside the crater. Also I took close up photo of melted rocks on a side of the volcano, free of snow:
St. Helens remained active for some time - it produced an additional five explosive eruptions between May and October 1980. And it was building smaller dome inside the crater even until 2008.
Finally, only on July 10, 2008, it was determined that the eruption had ended after more than six months of no volcanic activity. Phew! What a relieve!
