The Old New Year (Russian: Старый Новый год) is an informal traditional Slavic Orthodox holiday, celebrated as the start of the New Year by the Julian calendar. This holiday falls on January 13/14. Usually not as festive as the New New Year, for many this is a nostalgic family holiday ending the New Year holiday cycle with traditional large meals, singing and celebratory drinking. The tradition of the Old New Year has been kept in Armenia, Ukraine, Moldova, Georgia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro, Republic of Macedonia.Our Etsy Russian Team held annual Holiday gift exchange. There were 34 team members from 13 countries who participated in this great gift exchange. So, let me out a secret and show you our chain of gifts!

Everyone in our group is welcome to join our annual Holiday gift exchange!
To participate please sign up with Albina at AroundBeads who is a curator for this exchange. She will assign each participant with a partner. Between now and November 20th, you will pick up a gift for your partner. It can be handmade or store bought, it should be wrapped pretty and fun to open. Please do not forget to include a Holiday card with your name and contact info!
All gifts should be mailed November 20h through December 1st, 2010
